The Literature of the Western World through the Renaissance

Description

A comparative approach to European literature of the Classical, Medieval and Renaissance periods, in translation. Genres to be covered include mythology and the development of epic and lyric poetry, narrative poetry and prose and the theatre. Students will read works from Classical Greece and Rome, France, England, Germany, Scandinavia, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Portugal, etc. This course is writing intensive. This course can be offered as a face-to-face course, a hybrid course, or a fully online asynchronous course.
