Students Seeking Readmission


York College undergraduate students who have not enrolled for two or more semesters and have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher may apply for readmission through the Office of the Registrar. To begin the process, students must complete a Readmission Application (Undergraduate) application, which is available on the Office of the Registrar's homepage in the forms section.

The application must include information about any colleges attended during the time away from York College. Additionally, students who attended a non-CUNY institution are required to request that an official transcript be sent directly from that institution to York College when applying for readmission. Send the PDF directly to transfereval@york.cuny.edu or have it mailed to  York College, 94-20 Guy R. Brewer, Jamaica, NY 11451, Attention: Office of the Registrar- Transfer Unit.

The completed Readmission Application (Undergraduate) must be signed, dated and uploaded along with a valid photo ID to the Office of the Registrar secure portal. A non-refundable fee of $20.00 will be charged to your CUNYfirst account.

  1. If you have been away from York College for two (2) or more semesters, you must follow the Pathways General Education requirements from the current Bulletin.

  2. If you have been away for three (3) or more semesters, you must adhere to the major requirements from the current Bulletin.

Students who were dismissed at the end of their last semester or those whose York College GPA is below 2.0 must first submit a petition for readmission to the Committee on Academic Policy and Standards (CAPS). Petitions for Readmission to the CAPS Committee must be filed at least two months before the term or session in which the student wishes to be readmitted. Please note that petitions are only valid for the term or session for which they were issued.

If the petition is approved, the student must then submit the Readmission Application to the Office of the Registrar at least one month before the semester or session begins, following the instructions provided at the top of this section.
