School of Arts and Sciences

The School of Arts and Sciences provides students with opportunities to pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees in the arts, humanities, the natural sciences and social sciences. In the studio, the classroom, or the laboratory, students work with nationally- and internationally-recognized faculty members who have gained recognition for their cutting-edge research and/or their creative activity. The School of Arts and Sciences also provides students with the opportunity to undertake their own research under faculty supervision. In addition to offering rigorous and stimulating courses, the School encourages students to study abroad, participate in internship programs, and more. Our advising resources (including pre-professional advising in dentistry, medicine, pharmaceutical science, and law) help students plan and prepare for their careers after graduation.

As the largest academic unit within York College, the School consists of nine departments and 32 programs. The majors in the School of Arts and Sciences prepare students for admission to graduate and professional programs. The School designed its courses and programs to provide a challenging education with state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories, together with vital experiential learning opportunities. The School contains interdisciplinary programs like Black Studies, Criminal Justice, Cultural Diversity, Food Studies and Women’s Studies, as well as majors from all of the traditional academic disciplines in the arts and sciences. The School also boasts two graduate programs, including a fully online version of the Masters in Clinical Trial Management. The School constantly introduces new courses, new programs and new technologies to prepare students for their personal achievement, for engaged citizenship and for life in the twenty-first century.
