Description
n this course students explore the cognitive and social-emotional development requirements and challenges ofstudents in middle school mathematics classes. Students will analyze current research about the experiences ofdiverse student populations as they progress through the increasingly complex concepts and skills of middleschool mathematics. They will develop strategies to support students’ growth mindset, perseverance, and selfconfidenceas engage in mathematical learning. Students will develop plans for classroom environments whereclassroom interactions support the success of all students. This course requires 15 hours of fieldwork supportingthe mathematical understanding and competencies of middle childhood students.
