Description
This course is designed to explore health disparities and associated biopsychosocial determinants in the US. Traditionally underserved racial, ethnic and immigrant communities and emerging groups with disparities based upon age, gender, sexual orientation and identity, disability/ability, physical and mental health, geography and environment will be analyzed from a systems perspective. The role of culture, socioeconomic status, health literacy, and social and community networks will be examined. Cultural responsiveness, advocacy, and social justice will be explored as approaches for promotion of health equity.
