The course utilizes a systems approach and draws on information from multiple disciplines to build on fundamental knowledge of pharmacology. Students are provided with an in-depth examination of the complex interrelationships between pharmacotherapeutics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and pathophysiologic processes. Emphasis is placed on pharmacotherapeutics, as it relates to critical thinking, client education, life-span issues, cultural considerations and evidence-based clinical guidelines in nursing practice.
