Course Title
Africa and the Columbian Exchange
Department(s)
Description
This course introduces the contributions of Africa and Africans to the Columbian exchange; the global transfers of people, culture, plants, animals, and microbes that were initiated with the discovery of America. It explores ways in which social and environmental transformations set in motion then are still unfolding, while today's appropriations and global transfers of commons by transnational corporations inspire new forms of conflict and resistance.
