Description

The Biology of Aging is designed for students of gerontology who wish to study in greater detail the biological basis of aging changes. Topics will include: Theories of biological aging; the comparative biology of aging in vertebrates and mammals; the influence of genetics, environment, nutrition and exercise on aging; the cellular basis of aging; anatomical and physiological changes in the musculoskeletal, nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, cutaneous, gastrointestinal, urinary, endocrine, reproductive and immune systems. In studying the organ systems, all sections will be preceded by a review of the normal condition in young adults.
